Exciting news! The time has come when my own study can join the number of those using inclusive methodologies which we’ve shared via our blog.
For many neurodivergent people, the diagnostic process can be one of embarrassment, frustration, and stress – but could (and should) computers and robotics be involved in this process?
Using a participatory methodology, we’d like to neurodivergent participants to reflect on their experiences of diagnosis, working with us to understand if and how computer and robotic systems should be used for the purpose of diagnosis.
Our neurodivergent collaborators will also be able to help guide our future research plans – how can we develop inclusive and useful systems and tools for neurodivergent people.
Alongside our participatory research, we are also looking for autistic participants to complete a motor task with a robotic system. We’re using this to better understand differences in motion patterns and sensory processing, using what we learn to create systems with autistic interaction preferences in mind.
We’re looking for neurodivergent and neurotypical participants (so everyone!) to take part in one of these two studies. All participants will be reimbursed at £15 per hour for all research activities.
